A total of 47 baseball free agents — seven by Atlanta alone — have signed so far this offseason.
Agent Scott Boras negotiated a three-year, $55 million deal for former Braves pitcher Dallas Keuchel and has earned players $936 million in contracts this offseason, including a $324 million, nine-year deal between Gerrit Cole and the New York Yankees and $245 million, seven-year deals for Stephen Strasburg with the Washington Nationals and Anthony Rendon with the Los Angeles Angels.
The Braves have guaranteed about $306 million to all players in future seasons, or $18 million less than Boras negotiated for Cole from the Yankees.
Boras landed Mike Moustakas a four-year deal worth $64 million in Cincinnati. He represents free agent Hyun-Jin Ryu, who could fetch more than $17 million a season.
Boras has negotiated more than a dozen contracts worth more than $100 million — more than any other agent —including Bryce Harper’s $330 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies and Max Scherzer’s $210 million deal with the Washington Nationals last season.
Boras is expected to clear the $1 billion mark this winter.
