NEXT: AT WASHINGTON NATIONALS
Tuesday
Time: 7:05 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves LH Alex Wood (4-4, 3.40 ERA) vs. TBD
Comment: The Nationals haven’t announced a starter but it could be Stephen Strasburg, who is poised to make his return from a DL stint that began May 30. Strasburg (upper back muscle) threw 71 pitches in a Double-A rehab start on Wednesday and threw a bullpen session Saturday. Wood is 4-1 with a 2.58 ERA in eight road starts this year, but he took a no-decision his last start in Washington May 10 despite making a quality start (three earned runs in 6 2/3 innings.)
Wednesday
Time: 7:05 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Shelby Miller (5-3, 1.99) vs. RH Jordan Zimmermann (5-5, 3.75)
Comment: Miller was 7-1 with a 1.33 ERA and a .156 opponents' batting average in his first eight starts as a Brave, leading up to his no-hit bid in Miami on May 17. In six starts since then he has gone 2-4 with a 2.97 ERA and a .270 opponents' batting average. The Nationals have won Zimmermann's past three starts against the Braves, while he's allowed just eight earned runs in 19 innings, including two quality starts already this year.
Thursday
Time: 4:05 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Matt Wisler (1-0, 1.13) vs. RH Doug Fister (2-3, 4.80)
Comment: Unfortunately for Wisler, he can't freeze time. He's going to have to figure a way to follow up what he did on Friday night, when he pitched eight innings and allowed only one run to win his major league debut at Turner Field. Now he'll try to take some of that poise into his first road start. Fister struggled in his first start back from the DL (forearm tightness), giving up five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Rays.
