NEXT: VS MIAMI MARLINS
Monday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: FSSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Shelby Miller (0-0, 0.00) vs. RH Mat Latos (0-1, 94.50)
Comment: The digits next to his name don't tell Miller's story. He dominated the Marlins for five shutout innings in his Braves' debut Wednesday in Miami. He allowed only four hits and struck out four but left with no decision. Latos needs anything but the digits listed next to his name. The Braves roughed him up for seven runs while he recorded only two outs in his debut with the Marlins. Latos admitted jitters in his return to his hometown but blamed poor location.
Tuesday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Trevor Cahill (3-12, 5.61 in 2014) vs. RH Tom Koehler (0-1, 3.00)
Comment: The Braves skipped Cahill the first time through the rotation but hand the ball to their newly-acquired fifth starter for the first time. The Braves traded for Cahill from Arizona at the end of spring training, hoping pitching coach Roger McDowell could get the sinkerballer back on track after a subpar 2014. A.J. Pierzynski homered off Koehler for the difference in a 2-0 Braves win Wednesday but Koehler shut them out for his first 91 pitches that day, into the seventh inning.
Wednesday
Time: 12:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves LH Eric Stults (0-0, 5.40) vs. RH Dan Haren (0-0, 1.50)
Comment: Stults lost a three-run lead on back-to-back homers by the Mets (David Wright, John Mayberry) in his Braves' debut but benefited from a Phil Gosselin two-run single for a 5-3 win. Haren has quality starts the past three times he faced the Braves with the Nationals and Dodgers, allowing only three earned runs in 20 innings. He wasn't exactly thrilled to be traded from L.A. to Miami and was rumored to consider retirement, but he was dominant in his first start as a Marlin with six shutout innings over the Rays.
