NEXT: vs. GIANTS

Monday

Time: 7:10 p.m.

TV: SPSO

Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (3-3, 5.04 ERA) vs. RH Matt Cain (2-2, 4.50)

Comment: Foltynewicz pitched well in his return to the Braves' rotation July 29, allowing the Orioles just two earned runs on a pair of solo home runs but settled for a 2-0 loss. He matched his high in strikeouts with eight, which he did previously May 29 in San Francisco in his third major league start, a 4-2 loss. Cain was out with an elbow injury when the Braves were in San Francisco in May. He missed the first three months recovering from a strained flexor tendon. If he continues to alternate good and bad starts like he has his first five back, Cain is due for a good one against the Braves.

Tuesday

Time: 7:10 p.m.

TV: SPSO

Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Shelby Miller (5-8, 2.44) vs. RH Jake Peavy (2-4, 4.12)

Comment: Miller's winless streak is now 13 starts. One more and he ties Kenshin Kawakami (14 straight in 2010) for the Braves' franchise record. Miller got some foreshadowing of bad luck to come when he last faced the Giants on May 28, giving up just a Brandon Belt solo homer but taking a loss in a 7-0 game after reliever Brandon Cunniff allowed five runs while recording just one out. That loss started a stretch of 11 Braves losses over Miller's next 12 starts. Peavy missed 2 1/2 months with a back strain. He's 2-2 with a 2.84 ERA in five starts since his return.

Wednesday

Time: 7:10 p.m.

TV: SPSO

Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Williams Perez (4-1, 4.14) vs. LH Madison Bumgarner (11-6, 3.39)

Comment: Perez conceded to feeling rusty after missing a month due to a foot injury. It showed when the Phillies knocked him around for nine runs in 4 1/3 innings Friday night. Perez walked four batters in the game. Before Friday, the most runs he'd allowed in any of his first eight major league starts was four. Bumgarner hasn't been quite as dominant this season as in the two years past and gave up six runs twice in five July starts, including on July 31 at Texas. Bumgarner had a quality start in a no-decision against the Braves on May 31, allowing three runs in six innings in a 7-5 loss.
