NEXT: VS MILWAUKEE BREWERS
Thursday
Time: 7:10 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Julio Teheran (3-1, 4.33 ERA) vs. RH Matt Garza (2-5, 5.72)
Comment: Teheran got back on track in Miami, after a six-run outing against the Nationals, allowing just two runs in 5 2/3 innings of a 5-3 win. He's still getting hit at a high rate though – opponents are batting .306 off him for the season - and Teheran has allowed nine or more hits in three of his past four outings. Garza is just eager to get back on the mound after getting torched by the Mets on Saturday for 10 runs in 3 1/3 innings in a 14-1 loss. Garza gave up a grand slam to Wilmer Flores that game and two hits to the pitcher Jacob deGrom.
Friday
Time: 7:35 p.m.
TV: SPSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves LH Alex Wood (2-2, 3.83) vs. RH Wily Peralta (1-5, 4.32)
Comment: Wood is looking for two things he has yet to do this season – a win over somebody other than the Miami Marlins and a winning streak. He'll go for back-to-back wins after pitching a season-high seven innings in a 5-3 win over the Marlins. Wood is still a work in progress this year, doing his best to compete without his best "stuff." Peralta has pitched better than his record, and the Braves already know what he's capable of. They managed only four runs (three earned) in 18 innings (1.50 ERA) the three times they've faced Peralta.
Saturday
Time: 4:10 p.m.
TV: FS1
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Shelby Miller (5-1, 1.33) vs. RH Mike Fiers (1-4, 4.75)
Comment: So where do you go from coming one out shy of a no-hitter? Gunning for another no-hitter might be asking a bit much for Miller, who would gladly take a ninth straight good outing as a Brave. He's the first Atlanta Braves pitcher to give up two runs or fewer in his first eight starts with the club. He's owned the Brewers too, going 5-0 with a 2.20 ERA in eight career starts against them. This is the Braves first look at Fiers, who has spent parts of the past five seasons up with the Brewers, including 22 starts in 2012.
Sunday
Time: 1:35 p.m.
TV: FSSO
Probable starting pitchers: Braves RH Mike Foltynewicz (2-1, 5.32) vs. RH Jimmy Nelson (2-4, 3.73)
Comment: Foltynewicz took his first loss Tuesday night to Tampa after giving up a career-high five runs. He struck out seven, but had a costly walk that opened the door to a decisive two-run rally in the fifth. He has pitched six innings or more just once in his first four major league starts. Nelson is coming off an impressive outing against Detroit, allowing just one run on three hits in eight innings of an 8-1 win.
