Braves outfielder Nick Markakis hits a sacrifice fly that gave Atlanta a 10-1 lead over Philadelphia in the 6th inning Sunday, June 16, 2019, at SunTrust Park in Atlanta.

The Braves may well be in search of pitching – starting and relief – in advance of Wednesday’s trade deadline. However, the team may also be looking for outfield help following the injury to Nick Markakis, according to a report from USA Today.

The Braves have called several times recently after right fielder was placed on the Injured List on Saturday with a left wrist fracture, according to the report.

Markakis is expected to miss 6-8 weeks after he was hit by a pitch Friday against the Phillies. The roster move came on Saturday after Markakis flew back to Atlanta for further evaluation. He won’t require surgery. The Braves called up Adam Duvall from Triple-A Gwinnett to take his roster spot.

“It’s just a matter of time to let the bone heal,” manager Brian Snitker said. “I would say with a guy like that, if you give him an estimated time, he’d probably beat it back. But it is what it is. Just needs time to heal.”

Markakis hit .284 with nine homers, 55 RBIs and a .358 on-base percentage through 104 games before the injury.
