PHILADELPHIA – Nearly six months after pitcher Williams Perez went on the disabled list with a rotator-cuff strain, the Braves activated him Friday for the final month of the season.

Because Perez made his final injury-rehab start Thursday for Triple-A Gwinnett – five hitless innings with one walk, seven strikeouts – he presumably won’t be the replacement starter Monday if Matt Wisler has to miss or push back his start due to side soreness.

Perez would be on one day shorter rest than usual if he were to start that game.

The right-hander had a 4.91 ERA in three rehab starts for three different minor league affiliates, with all six of the runs he allowed coming in the middle game for low Single-A Rome. Perez had a .220 opponents’ average over three rehab starts with 12 strikeouts and three walks in 11 innings.

“Really good,” Braves interim manager Brian Snitker said of his rehab work. “He feels good and he’s excited, so we’ll work him back in there somewhere when he’s ready.”

Perez last pitched in the majors in a June 6 loss at San Diego and was 2-2 with a 4.62 ERA in nine starts before going on the DL. He’s expected to move back into the Braves’ ever-evolving rotation.
