Tyler Pastornicky’s sore left calf flared up on him during batting practice Monday and Fredi Gonzalez said he’ll need a couple more days to rest it.
Gonzalez said Pastornicky was available off the bench, but he didn’t expect him to be back in the starting lineup until Thursday or Friday.
Pastornicky strained his calf jumping to catch a throw to second base Saturday against the Cardinals and has been out of the lineup for the past three games. Dan Uggla got the start in his place Sunday and Ramiro Pena has started the past two nights against the Brewers.
The Braves are giving Pastornicky a chance for regular action at second base, given the continuation of Uggla’s struggles at the plate.
