One year ago today: Inciarte robs Mets of win

Sept 21, 2017

The Braves didn’t make too many memorable moments in a rough 2016 season, but perhaps the best play occurred exactly one year ago.

With the Braves leading 4-3 in Queens, Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes appeared to hammer a walk-off three run homer. But the Gold Glove outfielder Ender Inciarte had different plans.

The #GameEnder, as it's coined, was also relevant in the standings. The Mets were locked in a tight wild card race at the time. They'd go on to win a spot but lose the one-game playoff to Madison Bumgarner and the Giants.

Since then, Inciarte has gotten even better. He was on pace for the seventh 200-hit season in Braves history, though a recent injury may prevent him from history. Regardless, Inciarte has cemented himself as a cornerstone in the Braves' outfield.

Braves pitcher Julio Teheran playfully puts the pitcher's rosin bag atop the cap of center fielder Ender Inciarte (11) after Inciarte robbed New York Mets' Yoenis Cespedes of a game-winning, three-run home run for the final out in the Braves 4-3 victory over the Mets Sept. 21, 2016, in New York.
