What's new: The Braves come home with some semblance of a positive to build on after scoring more than four runs Sunday for the first time in 11 games in a 6-2 win over the Phillies. Jace Peterson hit a three-run homer in that game to snap out of a funk that saw him go 9-for-59 (.153) over his previous 17 games. Nick Markakis was out of the lineup Sunday for a rest day but brings a nine-game hitting streak into the Giants series. Markakis is hitting .316 (12-for-38) with a double and a home run over the streak. He is batting .289 with a .373 on-base percentage in 24 games in the leadoff spot. A.J. Pierzynski hit in eight straight games on the road trip as well, batting .419 (13-for-31) with a double and two RBIs.
