Mike Soroka’s second Triple-A start wasn’t quite as sharp as his first, but still amounted to further evidence he’s about ready for the bigs.

Pitching before the Coolray Field crowd for the first time against the Rochester Red Wings, Soroka threw 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and two runs. He struck out eight against no walks.

Taylor Featherston’s second-inning triple scored the first run off Soroka. He scored on a Willians Astudillo groundout.

Otherwise, Soroka was brilliant throughout the night. In 10 2/3 Triple-A innings, the 20-year-old owns a 1.69 ERA with 13 strikeouts and one walk.
