The Braves anticipated left-hander Max Fried returning this weekend, and the likeliest date is Sunday.

Fried, who’s missed one start because of a blister, threw a bullpen session Tuesday and will again Thursday. If all goes well, he’ll return to the mound in Philadelphia.

“We’re looking at him some point later in the weekend,” manager Brian Snitker said. “If everything goes well, more than likely Sunday.”

It’s a fortunate swing for the Braves. Fried has struggled with blisters in the past, one reason this is his first full season as a starter.

With Fried back, the Braves could continue shuffling through starter options behind their other three regulars. Kevin Gausman, also recently off the injured list, will start Saturday.
