Manfred offers insight into Coppolella lifetime ban
Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred offered more insight into the lifetime ban handed down to former Braves general manager John Coppolella.
Manfred appeared on the ESPN radio show Golic and Wingo on Tuesday. He spoke about the severe penalties the league handed down to the Braves and Coppolella following an extensive investigation into the team’s infractions in the international free-agent market and domestic draft.
“While the Braves were completely cooperative in the investigative process, I can’t say the same for John,” Manfred said.
Coppolella was forced to resign on Oct. 2 amidst the investigation. He was banned for life last week when MLB announced its findings and punishments which also included declaring 13 Braves prospects signed under Coppolella as free agents.
