LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Center-field prospect Mallex Smith was the latest early arriving position player in Braves spring training, reporting to the team’s ESPN’s Wide World of Sports facility near the end of Sunday’s workout for pitchers and catchers.

Position players are due to report Wednesday and the first full-squad workout is Thursday. Braves pitchers and catchers had reporting day and a light workout Friday, and regular workouts Saturday and Sunday. Other positions players (non-catchers) are expected to report by Wednesday and the first full-squad workout is Thursday.

A quartet of non-catching position players — Hector Olivera, Jace Peterson, shortstop prospect Dansby Swanson, non-roster first baseman Nate Freiman — arrived early and worked out the past three days. They went through informal workouts in the batting cages and on the stadium field while the pitchers and catchers utilized all the backfields.
