Braves starter Luiz Gohara threw 40 pitches in his latest bullpen session Wednesday.

Gohara strained his groin while running sprints during the first week of spring training. He’s thrown two bullpen sessions since, saying he felt great after the most recent.

“He threw a really good bullpen (Wednesday),” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. “Really good. So that was good to see. Now it’s just a matter of getting him built up. He feels good, his leg’s good, arm is really good. It’s just about getting him stretched out and built up.”

He’ll throw again Saturday and will face live hitters next if it goes well.

Gohara, 21, entered camp as one of the favorites for two vacant rotation spots. He made five starts following a September call-up last season, impressing with his mound presence and strikeout potential.
