Hitting coach John Moses has been promoted to manager of the Gwinnett Braves, the team announced Tuesday.

Moses replaces Rick Albert, who was assigned as manager to Gwinnett a few days after Brian Snitker's promotion as interim manager of the Atlanta Braves after the dismissal of Fredi Gonzalez.

Albert, a member of the Braves’ organization for the past 45 seasons, was reassigned to the Braves’ Gulf Coast League affiliate. Albert led Gwinnett (30-34) to a 10-13 record in 23 games.

Moses, 58, does not have any managerial experience. He was, however, named Gwinnett’s acting manager following Snitker's promotion to Atlanta on May 17. He managed two games going 1-1.

Moses has served as the hitting coach for the last two seasons at Gwinnett. He was previously at Advanced-A Lynchburg (2013-14) and at Double-A Mississippi (2014). He has worked in the Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds organizations.

As a player, Moses spent part of 11 major league seasons with the Mariners, Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers, batting .254 with 11 home runs, 145 RBIs and 101 stolen bases in 769 games.
