In honor of Atlanta’s strong and rich history in the civil rights movement, the Braves will host several events this weekend:
FRIDAY
- Champions for Justice Award panel discussion and presentation: Ambassador Andrew Young and Senator Leroy Johnson will be the inaugural recipients of the Hank Aaron Champion for Justice Award. Discussion and luncheon from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in the 755 Club at Turner Field. (Sold Out).
- Tuskegee Airmen "Rise Above" exhibit: Open from 9 a.m. through the sixth inning, the exhibit is a one-of-a-kind attraction housed in a 53-foot long customized trailer with sides that slide out to create a 30-seat climate-controlled movie theater with a 160-degree panoramic screen. The movie highlights who the Tuskegee Airmen were and how they overcame obstacles to be allowed to train and fight as the first black U.S. Army Air Corps pilots. The exhibit is free and will be located in Monument Grove.
- The Negro Leagues Baseball - Times, Teams & Talent exhibit: Located in the Hank Aaron Room inside the ballpark and is available for viewing from the time the gates are open until the end of the game.
SATURDAY
- Youth clinic: From 9 a.m.-noon, 150 invited participants, ages 8-12, will participate in three stations of skills preparation – throwing/pitching, hitting and defense.
- Negro League player autograph signing session: At the Fan Plaza from 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.
- Special Negro League uniforms: The Braves will wear the Negro League Atlanta Black Cracker uniforms during the game, and the Washington Nationals will don the Homestead (Washington, DC) Grays uniforms.
- Postgame concert with Run DMC: Free with a game ticket.
SUNDAY
- Alumni Day: Former Braves players Denny Neagle, Terry Harper and Jim Nash will greet fans and sign autographs pregame.
