Damon Berryhill of the Gwinnett Stripers was chosen the International League Manager of the Year, in a vote of managers, coaches, media and club representatives within the league.

Also, Stripers outfielder Adam Duvall was chosen an IL postseason All-Star. Ozzie Albies was the most recent Gwinnett player chosen as a postseason All-Star. Other past winners include Freddie Freeman (2010) and Julio Teheran (2011).

Berryhill, a former Braves catcher, is the first Gwinnett manager win the International League Manager of the Year. Two managers of the Richmond Braves, the predecessors of the Gwinnett team, won the award: Eddie Haas (1982, 1983) and Grady Little (1994).

The Stripers have seven more games on their schedule this season. They will play their final homestand of the season, three games against Norfolk, Tuesday-Thursday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. This weekend the team plays four games at Durham, finishing Labor Day afternoon.

Through Monday’s games, the Stripers have a 76-56 record and lead the South Division by 2-1/2 games. Three division winners and a wild-card team qualify for the Governor’s Cup playoffs, which begin Sept. 5.
