Luiz Gohara didn’t experience any setbacks in his third bullpen session Saturday and will face live hitters Monday.
Gohara strained his groin while running sprints and has been sidelined since the first week of spring training. The lefty is among the leading candidates to fill one of two back-end rotation spots.
“Gohara’s good,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. “He actually did some running (on Saturday). He’s scheduled to throw a live on Monday, face some hitters, so that’s a good sign. But he feels good. Like I said, they changed his running a little bit. Got him outside and started stretching him. So he’s fine. Headed in the right direction.”
The Braves won’t schedule Gohara’s next start until he’s made it through at least two live batting practices next week, but they’re confident he’ll be back to game action soon.
“It’s coming up,” Snitker said. “It won’t be that long.”
