Evan Gattis missed his second straight game with viral symptoms and was still feeling “a little nauseous” Wednesday afternoon. Gattis was available for limited duty off the bench Wednesday night and was hopeful to be back in the lineup in the next day or two.

“Take an extra day today to be safe,” Gattis said. “Try to get back out there soon.”

Gattis said he first started feeling sick Saturday night in St. Louis, with chills and fever, and has been on antibiotics for a few days. He caught nine innings Monday night against the Brewers, but Tuesday night he started to feel sick as he warmed Julio Teheran up in the bullpen. He was scratched 10-15 minutes before first pitch, forcing Gerald Laird into last-minute duties.

“I was just disappointed yesterday,” Gattis said. “You never like to show up and not be able to do my job.”
