Former Braves catcher Evan Gattis is back behind the plate with the Astros after a stint in the minors.
And his power appears to be back too.
Gattis has hit home runs in two of the three games he's played since being sent down to Double-A Corpus Christi to get extensive playing time as a catcher.
After being recalled from the minors, Gattis handled the designated hitter role in his first two games with Houston.
On Thursday, he caught in a major league game for the first time since suiting up for the Braves in 2014. He also went 2-for-3 with a home run.
Gattis, who has been used primarily as a DH since coming to the Astros from the Braves in a trade prior to the 2015 season, drew raves from Houston starting pitcher Collin McHugh.
"He did a really phenomenal job tonight, both calling the game and blocking," McHugh said.
Gattis was 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs and two RBIs Tuesday in his first game back. He went 1-for-5 in Wednesday's game and struck out four times.
Gattis is hitting. 237 this season with three homers and 10 RBIs.
