Braves all-star first baseman Freddie Freeman underwent arthroscopic right elbow surgery Wednesday in New York, according to a release from the team.

The procedure, performed by Dr. David Altchek, removed three fragmented loose bodies and cleaned up multiple bone spur formations that had developed in Freeman’s elbow. Freeman is expected to be ready for spring training next February.
