DENVER – Freddie Freeman had triples in consecutive games Friday and Saturday to give him six for the season, the first Braves first baseman to hit six triples in a season since the team moved to Atlanta in 1966.

The last Braves first baseman to hit as many triples in a season was Joe Adcock, who had six for the 1953 Milwaukee Braves.

Freeman already surpassed by two his previous career high of four triples in 2013, when he played all 162 games and had a career-high 708 plate appearances. He had 418 plate appearances in 97 games through Saturday, and all six of his triples had come in his past 41 games.

Despite going through a seven-game slump before Friday, Freeman since June 1 carried a .297 average (52-for-175) with 14 doubles, six triples, nine homers and a .381 OBP and .600 slugging percentage in 47 games before Sunday’s series finale. His 29 extra-base hits in that span were second-most in the majors, one behind the Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo.
