SAN FRANCISCO — Freddie Freeman hit a home run against left-hander Javier Lopez in the ninth inning Monday, but that didn't make the Braves first baseman feel any differently about an error he made in a three-run seventh inning that propelled the Giants to a 4-2 victory.

Braves starter Gavin Floyd pitched well through six innings and the score was tied at 1 until the seventh, when Hector Sanchez hit a leadoffsingle and Freeman botched a grounder by Brandon Crawford.

Tyler Colvin followed by driving in both runners with a triple down the first-base line for a 3-1 lead, and Brandon Hicks added an RBI single before Floyd recorded the first out in the inning.

“It’s a game of fundamentals and I didn’t field a ground ball, and we lost the game because of it,” Freeman said. “Now instead of nobody on with two outs, there’s (runners on) first and second, nobody out. So that loss is on me. With Crawford running I tried to turn the double play quicker than I should have. I tried to throw the ball before I caught the ball. It was completely my fault.

“It’s a completely different situation (if he fields it). It gives Gavin a nice double-play ball right there and he keeps motoring through. One thing goes wrong and the floodgates open. I tried to get too quickly on a double play, and it’s completely my fault.”
