Parkview's pride and joy will return home this weekend.
Former Atlanta Brave right fielder Jeff Francoeur was called up by the San Diego Padres Wednesday.
Francoeur, who had an opt-out clause on his minor league deal, was hitting .294 with a .465 slugging percentage and 15 homers with the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas. It should be noted he also pitched in relief and posted a 4.26 ERA, striking out 4 while allowing 5 hits and 3 runs, in 6-1/3 innings.
Francoueur got his major league start with the Braves in 2005, after being selected in the first round of the 2002 amateur draft out of Gwinnett's Parkview High School. He was traded by the Braves to the New York Mets for Ryan Church.
The Padres are in Chicago, but face the Braves for a weekend tilt at Turner Field this weekend. Francouer was last in the majors last season, playing in 81 games for the Kansas City Royals and San Francisco Giants.
If you think you'll be alone cheering on "Frenchy," the accolades have already started in social media.
