He pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, in the Braves' 6-2 victory over the host Durham Bulls.
Foltynewicz (1-0) struck out seven and walked one. He lowered his ERA to 0.90.
Emilio Bonifacio went 2-for-5 with a run scored for the Braves, who are 5-2.
