Looking ahead: There are two four-game homestands sandwiched around a day off this week. Game 2 of the series against Indianapolis is at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday. Norfolk comes in beginning Thursday.
Who's hot: OF Derrick Mitchell became the first G-Brave to hit three home runs in a game. He is the first Braves Triple-A player to do so since Scott Thorman in July 2005.
Who's not: RP Luis Vasquez has had four brutal outings and ERA has soared to 12.19.
Need to know: The G-Braves are an IL-best 8-4 (.667) in games decided by one run. Last year, Gwinnett led all of minor league baseball with 59 one-run decisions (24-35, .407, 13th in IL).
Jackson, Miss. (Double-A)
Looking back: The M-Braves have won seven of 10 to move within three games of first-place Mobile in the Southern League South Division.
Looking ahead: The M-Braves play seven more home games this month against league also-rans Chattanooga and Pensacola.
Who's hot: SS Elmer Reyes had a six-game hitting streak snapped but is batting .378 in his past 10 games to raise his average to .362. He would be leading the league with a few more at-bats to qualify.
Who's not: P Carlos Perez has been hurt by lack of control (11 walks, 2 strikeouts) and his ERA has ballooned to 19.29.
Need to know: Reyes had the club's first inside-the-park home run in nine seasons last week.
Lynchburg, Va. (Single-A)
Looking back: The Hillcats went 5-5 in the past 10 and are bunched with two other teams behind Carolina League North Division-leading Potomac.
Looking ahead: The Hillcats play 10 of their next 14 at home, but the four road games are against Potomac. Chances for getting into the mix for the division should be determined by the end of the month.
Who's hot: 2B Jose Peraza had hits in seven of his past eight games but has seen his average fall to .316 with three O-fers in the past 10 games.
Who's not: 1B Edison Sanchez had a 1-for-18 slide in the past week and his average has dipped to .214.
Need to know: OF Kyle Wren, of Peachtree City and Georgia Tech, had hits in seven of 10 games to bump his average to .275.
Rome (Single-A)
Looking back: The R-Braves have gone 4-6 over their past 10 but still find themselves 15 1/2 games back entering the weekend in the South Atlantic League Southern Division.
Looking ahead: The team opens a seven-game homestand with Greensboro on Thursday.
Who's hot: OF Victor Reyes went 20-for-38 in the past 10 games to boost his average to league-best .386. He's had eight games with two or more hits in that stretch.
Who's not: SS Johan Camargo had eight hits in his past 10 games but it only bumped his average to .182 in 35 games.
Need to know: LP Yean Carlos Gil has 30 strikeouts and three walks in 31 2/3 innings and a 3-1 record (0.85 ERA).
