Christian Bethancourt

C, Gwinnett

His first month at Triple-A has been a slow one. Bethancourt hit .191 in his first 47 at-bats with one extra-base hit. He entered the year a career .267 hitter. Baseball America’s top-rated defensive catcher has already allowed five passed balls.

Tommy La Stella

2B, Gwinnett

In his third full professional season, La Stella hit .333 through his first 17 games with just three strikeouts. He reached base safely in 13 consecutive games but the switch-hitter batted .222 against left-handed pitching.

Victor Caratini

C, Rome

Hitting only .268 through 16 games, Caratini has nevertheless been a productive force in Rome’s sluggish offense. His average jumps to .381 with runners on base and up to .417 with men in scoring position.

Jason Hursh

RHP, Mississippi

His 2.95 ERA is deceiving. Hursh, the organization’s first-round pick in last June’s draft, has allowed nine runs in his past 8 1/3 innings. He was 1-2 in four starts and yielding a .284 opponents’ average.

Wes Parsons

RHP, Lynchburg

Parsons is 1-1 (3.45) in his first three starts. Good news: He struck out 17 batters in his first 15 2/3 innings. Bad news: He also gave up 14 hits and five walks over the same period.

Mauricio Cabrera

RHP, Lynchburg

Despite allowing 15 baserunners and his first 10 1/3 innings, Cabrera has given up just three earned runs. His 2.61 ERA was the lowest in Lynchburg’s rotation, though he was winless in his first three starts.

Jose Peraza

2B, Lynchburg

Off to a solid start, hitting .309 with three doubles, one triple and 10 steals in 19 games. In his fourth professional season, Peraza is still in Single-A but he just turns 20 on Wednesday.

Lucas Sims

RHP, Lynchburg

The former first-round pick from Brookwood High, Sims has allowed a mere .187 opponents’ average but has been hurt by the home run. He has already allowed four, contributing to a 1-2 record and 4.71 ERA.

Shae Simmons

RHP, Mississippi

The M-Braves closer converted his first four save opportunities and opened the season with eight scoreless appearances. He struck out 13 batters in his first 9 1/3 innings.
