The Gwinnett Braves and Durham Bulls both finished their game with position players on the mound Saturday night.

And Durham's catcher got the better of Gwinnett's second baseman in a 9-8 Bulls win in Triple-A play.
In the top of the 10th, Durham catcher Mayo Acosta, who had just worked nine innings behind the plate, took the mound and set the visiting G-Braves down in order in an 8-8 game.
In the bottom of the inning,  Gwinnett sent second baseman Reid Brignac to pitch. He gave up two singles and a walk, before Durham's Dayron Varona ended the game with a single.

The real pitchers didn't fare much better than the position players. There were 19 walks, four hit batters and 21 hits in the game.

Gwinnett started Joel De La Cruz, who was called in after John Gant was recalled by Atlanta earlier in the day.  De La Cruz  went 3 1/3 innings. Bradley Roney, Rob Wooten, Jose Ramirez, Dario Alvarez and Brignac followed.
