How the winning run scored: Durham's Brandon Guyer capped a 10-run first inning with a two-out homer to right off Gwinnett reliever Cole McCurry. Guyer's homer, his second of the inning, gave the host Bulls a 10-0 lead.

At the plate: After the Gwinnett Braves' top of the order struck out 1-2-3 in the first, Durham answered with 10 runs in the bottom of the inning. Guyer's first homer came off G-Braves starter Daniel Rodriguez with no outs and drove in three runs. Guyer finished the game 2-for-4 and scored three runs to go with the five RBIs. Cole Figueroa was 3-for-4. Wil Myers had two hits and two RBIs. Ernesto Mejia was 2-for-4 for the G-Braves, with a double and a three-run homer. Matt Pagnozzi also had two hits.

On the mound: Rodriguez (0-1) lasted one-third of an inning and allowed nine runs on seven hits. He also walked two.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves and the Bulls continue their series at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday in Durham. Left-hander Sean Gilmartin (1-0, 1.80) is scheduled to start for Gwinnett.
