Former pitcher Buddy Carlyle will again wear a Braves uniform.

The Braves announced Friday the hiring of Carlyle as a coaching assistant. In a news release, the team said Carlyle will be in uniform for all pregame workouts and will perform scouting duties. Also, he will manage the Braves’ instant-replay protocol in all games, working from an off-field location.

Carlyle was released by the Mets in late March, ending a up-and-down major league career that totaled nine seasons from 1999-2015.

Included in that career was a stint with the Braves from 2007-09. He appeared in 83 games, making 20 starts, and compiled a 10-8 record with a 5.09 ERA.

Overall in the bigs, he was 13-13 with a 5.14 ERA. He appeared in 150 games, starting 27. He recorded one save.

He also spent the 2012 season for the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves, one of three minor league stops on his way back to the majors with the Mets in 2014.
