Mauro Gomez singled in the deciding run in the eighth inning, providing the Gwinnett Braves with a 6-5 win over Charlotte and keeping their postseason hopes alive on Sunday night at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.

The G-Braves (78-65)  remained a game behind Lehigh Valley in the International League wild card race with one game left. The G-Braves close out the regular season against Charlotte on Monday with a 2:05 p.m. game.

The hot-hitting Gomez, who went 2-for-4 and raised his average to .304, brought in Jeff Fiorentino, who had walked and advanced on a sacrifice bunt and flyout, with a two-out single to center in the eighth for the game-winner.

On Saturday night, the G-Braves split a doubleheader in Charlotte, losing the first game 3-2 and winning the second 5-2. In the seven-inning nightcap that was played late, Wil Nieves hit his first homer of the season for the G-Braves, a two-run shot in the fourth inning, to put his team ahead for good, 3-2. Five pitchers combined to pick up the win.
