G-Braves top Charlotte, clinch IL South

Catcher Blake Lalli stroked a two-run double in the second inning on his way to a 4-RBI game and the visiting Gwinnett Braves drilled Charlotte 6-2 on Monday afternoon to clinch the International League South Division.

With starter Tyrell Jenkins (9-3) allowing two runs over 7 1/3 innings, the G-Braves advanced to the Governor’s Cup playoffs for the first time since 2009.

Lalli added a two-run single in the eighth. Gwinnett reliever Stephen Janas recorded his first save, retiring all four batters he faced.

The G-Braves open the playoffs on Wednesday at Columbus, the defending IL champion. Any pending September call-ups to Atlanta are expected to be delayed until the G-Braves complete the postseason.

Drake Baldwin wins National League Rookie of the Year

Braves catcher Drake Baldwin won the 2025 National League Rookie of the Year award. Baldwin earned the honor over Cubs pitcher Cade Horton and Brewers infielder Caleb Durbin.
