The Atlanta Braves finally added a young bat on Thursday, taking Cal catcher Brett Cumberland with the 76th overall pick in the 2016 MLB draft.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Cumberland hit .344 with 16 home runs and 51 RBIs in his sophomore season. The lefty was named Pac-12 Player of the Year for his efforts with the Bears.

Cumberland becomes the fourth player drafted by the Braves in the first day of the draft. Atlanta took right-hander Ian Anderson with the third overall pick, left-hander Joey Wentz with the 40th selection and left-hander Kyle Muller in the 44th spot.
