Braves quotes from Fredi Gonzalez, Peter Moylan, Ryan Weber and Ryan Kelly after Sunday’s 10-7, 10-inning loss to the Mets.

**PETER MOYLAN

On Lagares’ two-out double in 9th, Maybin’s diving catch attempt

“He got a great read, he got a great jump, and he was an inch away from making SportsCenter’s Top 10 (plays of the day).”

Maybin hadn’t played in a week due to corneal abrasion, but got to that ball in a hurry

“Oh, he was really on his horse. As I said, he was an inch away from making one of the best catches I’ve seen in my life.”

On getting so close, striking out first two guys in ninth before it came apart (mostly after Moylan left game)

“It’s frustrating, because I know if I make a better pitch to Lagares, then everybody’s looking up their Fantasy Football scores right now instead of the way it is. But we learn from our mistakes I guess.”

Were you surprised to be replaced there, or no, considering the matchup? (lefty batter Granderson coming up)

“I wasn’t surprised, no. I generally facing right-handed hitters more than I do left-handers. And you can speculate all you want as to what should happen, but it’s easy to look back now and say I should have stayed in or whatever. That’s certainly not the move that I would have made, but the numbers say that I can’t get … well, I can get left-handed hitters out, but the numbers would say that they have a little easier time than right-handers do.”

**RYAN KELLY

On giving up tying three-run homer in ninth, how tough is it stepping into that situation?

“Obviously it’s a different situation. Coming up in the minors, especially this year, I was closing, so I’m used to that kind of situation. Obviously this is a little bigger stage. I made a bad pitch and paid for it. It happens. It’s baseball.”

Was it a matter of pitch selection, or location, or both?

“It was a cutter away, a back-door cutter, and it just ran back across the middle of the plate. It was down, just got too much plate. You make mistakes to big-league hitters, you pay for it.”

On Mets having a lot of guys right now who can make you pay for a mistake pitch

“They’re swinging the bat well. And they’re seeing the ball. You make a bad pitch and you pay for it.”

On being up in majors, being happy with that but not with losing

“Obviously glad to be here, but it’s not about settling, it’s about having success up here. Me, myself, I haven’t had as much success, obviously, as I would like. So it’s been a little bit of a difficult transition for me. But I’m coming here every day, trying to do everything I can to make myself better, to prepare myself for situations like that or any situation when I’m called.”

**FREDI GONZALEZ

On Mets scored three runs in each of the ninth and 10th innings

“Both times (after) two outs, nobody on. Petey (Peter Moylan) did his job. His job is to get right-handed hitters out. He almost got the third one out; Mabes (Cameron Maybin) did a terrific job trying to get that guy (missed diving-catch attempt), and then after that we walked a couple of people and it’s just … they’ve got a good club. You give them an opportunity, you open the door for them, and they’ll kick it in.”

On the bases-loaded walks

“It’s just one of those things. We’ll keep mixing and matching. We had a couple of guys that we didn’t want to use (resting) and we kept mixing and matching trying to figure out how to get that last out.”

On Castro’s three-hit day, another impressive showing by the rookie infielder, and the solid second MLB start by Weber

“I tell you what, he does a terrific job. He gives you a hell of an at-bat, turns a nice double play. You can match him up. We’ve seen him do that before. Weber gave us everything he had, he really did. He pitched great. The situation there in the bottom of the sixth, most of the time you might think about pinch-hitting there, but the way we were going we were going to let him continue to pitch. And he gets himself in a little trouble in the seventh inning, but here’s a young guy who hasn’t been in that situation in the big leagues, you can’t fault him there.

“Our club came back, got a three-run lead in the ninth inning with two outs, and just couldn’t put it away.”

On Olivera’s throwing error

“Just took him off the bag a little bit. Here’s a guy that’s learning how to play that position (third base) a little bit up here in the big leagues under a big microscope.”
