MIAMI — Braves quotes from Julio Teheran, Cameron Maybin and Fredi Gonzalez after Saturday’s 6-2 loss to the Marlins.

**JULIO TEHERAN

On the home run by Bour in 1st inning

“I tried to go inside and I don’t know if he was waiting for that. That’s part of the game, sometimes you’ve got to let it go and concentrate on the next hitter, and that’s what I was able to do.”

On the pitch to Bour

“I wanted to go up and in. I don’t know if it was up and in, because if I make one mistake in the game I don’t like to go to the video room (right away) to watch it. That’s part of the game, sometimes you try to make (a pitch) and you don’t do it.”

You’ve got to feel good about your last couple of months, how well you’ve pitch after early struggles

“Yeah, definitely. I feel really good the way I’ve been throwing. A game like this, there’s nothing you can do. I think that I did my job.”

**CAMERON MAYBIN

On Justin Nicolino’s performance for Marlins

“Just from talking to the guys, it sounded like he did a real good job mixing his pitches up. Throwing a lot of changeups, I think a little cutter, and just throwing strikes. Pounding the zone. From what I saw, any time you can get ahead (in counts) and throw strikes it always benefits you, and he did that. You throw a lot of strikes, you keep hitters on their toes, and it makes it tough to dig in and get comfortable. He did a good job controlling his tempo and throwing strikes.”

On Teheran’s performance

“The one thing I continue to say about Julio, there’s not too many guys I’d rather play behind. He competes his butt off every night. He gives it all he has every night. I think he was puking before the game, and nobody would know. That’s the kind of guy he is. He goes out there and he takes the ball every day with pride. He did a great job. One pitch.”

On the team in general

“Fortunately, I like what we do have. I see a lot of potential in the future. We’ve just got to continue to play together. I see some good things. We’ve got to stay together these last few games.”

On Andrelton Simmons’ strong relay throw to the plate

“I can’t say enough. He’s amazing. I mean, I got to it pretty quick. One thing I’ve learned this year, you never give up on a play like that. When you’re making a relay throw to Simba, if you can make it clean there’s always a chance. His arm is incredible. I see amazing stuff every day behind him. Just another to add to the list of amazing plays by Andrelton. I mean, he’s the best in the game.”

**FREDI GONZALEZ

On Teheran’s performance

“He pitched good. The one pitch to Bour, he got him for a home run. Other than that he battled, gave us a great opportunity. We just didn’t score runs. We scored 11 yesterday against a pretty darn good pitcher, and today we get a guy … not to take anything away from the young left-hander (Nicolino); he repeated his delivery, threw some stuff off-speed, but you would expect us to score a little bit more runs. But he did his job, he really did.”

Only one runner advanced to second base against Nicolino

“He mixes his pitches well, and repeats his delivery. And then he throws everything over for a strike. That’s a good recipe for him. The kid’s going to be OK.”

On Cunniff’s four-run eighth inning

“He punches out Prado to end the seventh, we run him back out there because we feel pretty good that he can maneuver against those lefties and also right-handers. Walking Bour to lead off the inning … you can’t walk people. I know we walked one on purpose, but you can’t walk people, because sooner or later somebody’s going to put the ball in play, get a base hit, put a crooked number up, and that’s what they did that inning. We were trying to keep it at one run, and keep it there, and hopefully our offense would score some runs. And that didn’t happen.”

On Simmons’ relay throw to the plate in the fourth inning, anybody you’d rather have out there than him in those situations?

“There’s nobody. Sometimes it gets him into trouble; he’ll get an error when he tries to do something like he did (in the eighth). But you know what? Every single time I want the ball in his hands. He made a great play. Maybin gave him a nice feed on the ball on the throw to the relay, and then (Simmons) came (to the plate) and Lavarnway made a nice tag.

“Simmons is the best I’ve ever seen – at a lot of different things.”

On Garcia being up with bases loaded, you feel good with him in that spot?

“Absolutely. He’s hit those type of pitchers, and those are the types of pitchers that he’s going to have to face, for the remainder of this year and next year also.”

On Bour doing a nice impersonation of Stanton so far in series with Stanton on DL

“He’s done a good job. I think Julio tried to go in on him in that first at-bat, and from what I understand the pitch wasn’t terribly bad. It was kind of in on him, but he still got his hands inside. He’s a big, strong boy, and he hit it out of the ballpark.”
