Sean Newcomb got the loss as the Gwinnett Braves fell to host Charlotte 8-4 Saturday night.

Newcomb (1-2) went four innings, allowing eight hits and three runs (one earned). He struck out six and walked none.  Newcomb threw 100 pitches, 65 of them were strikes. The lefty has  a 2.97 ERA this season in Triple-A play.

The Braves (15-12) mustered only four hits.

Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies went 1-for-4 but made his fourth error of the season, a throwing error.

Gwinnett designated hitter Ryan Howard was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and is hitting .184.
