Anthony Swarzak has been a godsend for the Braves bullpen, but his first half will end prematurely.
The Braves placed Swarzak on the 10-day injured list (formerly the disabled list) Sunday with right shoulder inflammation. The move is retroactive to June 29.
Since the Braves acquired Swarzak from Seattle, he's been their best reliever. Since his debut May 22, the Braves own the best bullpen ERA in the majors.

Swarzak has a 0.52 ERA across 17 appearances with the Braves. He’s allowed one run, a Howie Kendrick solo shot, in 17-1/3 innings.
After the Braves’ finale in New York, they have a six-game homestand heading into the All-Star break. Swarzak could conceivably return when the team opens the second half in San Diego, if it isn’t an extended concern.
