MILWAUKEE — Another Braves pitching prospect moved a step closer to the majors Wednesday when Tyrell Jenkins was promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett. He'll start Thursday against Norfolk.

Jenkins, who turns 23 on July 20, was 5-5 with a 3.00 ERA in 16 starts at Double-A Mississippi, with 59 strikeouts and 41 walks in 93 innings. His 84 hits allowed included only three homers.

The Braves got Jenkins from the the Cardinals along with pitcher Shelby Miller in the November trade that sent right fielder Jason Heyward and reliever Jordan Walden to St. Louis.
