The Braves have named Mike Dunn their vice president of Florida operations for the spring training facility under construction in North Port, Fla.

Dunn is the general manager of the Rome Braves and has served 21 years as a GM in the Braves organization.

“Mike has been an incredible asset to our organization and his strong leadership and organizational skills are a perfect fit for our new facility in Sarasota County,” said Mike Plant, Braves President of Development, in a statement.

Dunn joined the Braves’ stadium-operations development team in 1991. Dunn served as director of stadium operations for the club’s Double-A affiliate in Greenville, S.C., just out of college.

After working in an assistant general manager capacity, Dunn was promoted to GM of the Macon Braves in 1996. While serving as GM, he was the project manager for the construction of the Rome facility in 2001-02.

“Mike has been an incredible asset to our organization and his strong leadership and organizational skills are a perfect fit for our new facility in Sarasota County,” Plant said.

He earned General Manager of Year in the South Atlantic League and Executive of the Year in 2008. He was inducted into the South Atlantic League Hall of Fame in 2010.

Dunn is a native of Meadville, Pa., and graduate of Elon College in North Carolina.
