A brief recap of the Braves’ 2-0 win against the Marlins on Wednesday night at Miami.

How the game was won: A.J. Pierzynski hit a two-run homer off Marlins starter Tom Koehler in the seventh inning to snap a scoreless tie and send the Braves to their first season-opening series sweep since 2007 at Philadelphia. After Freddie Freeman singled to start the inning, Pierzynski's first hit as a Brave was a drive over the right-field fence. It was the third plate appearance of the season for the 38-year-old backup catcher, who didn't play in the first two games.

Number: 1. The home run was the first of the season for the Braves, who scored 14 runs in the first two games of the series without benefit of a long ball. The Braves also were the first major league team to get their third win.

Next: The Braves are off Thursday and play their home opener Friday night against the Mets to start a three-game series at Turner Field. Left-hander Eric Stults makes his Braves debut against Mets lefty Jonathon Niese.
