How the winning run scored: A one-out single by Alden Carrithers in the bottom of the second inning drove home B.J. Upton to give Gwinnett a 6-2 lead Thursday night.

At the plate: The Knights scored two runs in the first inning, and the G-Braves responded with three in the first and three in the second. Upton, in the second game of an injury rehab assignment for the Atlanta Braves, was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and two driven in. Philip Gosselin also was 3-for-4 for Gwinnett. Brandon Boggs and Carrithers each had two hits.

On the mound: G-Braves starter David Hale (6-5) pitched six innings and gave up three runs on eight hits.

Up next for Gwinnett: The G-Braves (48-64) and the Knights (51-61) conclude their series at 7:05 p.m. at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. CSS is scheduled to televise the game. Gwinnett right-hander Omar Poveda (5-6, 3.36 ERA) is set to start against left-hander Charlie Leesman (2-1, 3.70).
