TORONTO — A brief recap of the Braves’ 8-7 series-opening win against the Blue Jays on Friday at Rogers Centre.

How the game was won: Eighth-inning home runs by Jonny Gomes and Freddie Freeman gave the Braves a three-run lead, and they hung on for the win after the Blue Jays scored two runs in the eighth off reliever Jim Johnson. Toronto hit five of the game's seven homers, but Gomes' pinch-hit leadoff homer and Freeman's two-out, two-run shot proved to be decisive.

Number: 4. Career-high number of home runs allowed in five innings Friday by Braves pitcher Julio Teheran. He had allowed more than two just one other time in his career, that coming last May when he gave up three solo shots against the Giants, accounting for all the runs and all but one of the hits he allowed in seven innings that day.

Next: The Braves and Blue Jays continue their three-game series with a 1:07 p.m. start Saturday, when Atlanta left-hander Alex Wood faces Toronto knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.
