The Braves reached agreement on a one-year $1.45 million contract with Brandon Beachy on Monday, avoiding arbitration with the 27-year-old right-hander.

Beachy made only five starts in 2013 (going 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA) as his comeback from Tommy John surgery stalled with recurring elbow pain. Beachy underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove bone spurs on Sept. 26.

His agent Rob Martin said Monday that Beachy has received a “100 percent” bill of health from surgeon Dr. James Andrews and will be ready to go with no limitations at the start of spring training.

Beachy’s contract includes a $25,000 bonus if he makes 30 starts this season. This was his first year eligible for arbitration.

“We feel really good about the collaboration with the Braves front office, them letting Brandon know they value his contributions in the past and will value his contributions in the future,” said Martin, of Icon Sports Management. “We’re pleased with the deal. Now he can focus on having a good year.”

Beachy made a name for himself in September of 2010, rising to the majors as an undrafted free agent from Indiana Wesleyan. He went 7-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 25 starts during his first full season in 2011 and in 2012, was tied for the National League lead in ERA (2.00) when he tore his ulnar collateral ligament in a June start against the Orioles.

The Braves have seven remaining arbitration-eligible players on their 40-man roster, including Craig Kimbrel, Kris Medlen, Mike Minor, Freddie Freeman, Chris Johnson, Jason Heyward and Jordan Schafer.
