Both benches emptied in the first inning of the Braves’ game against the San Diego Padres on Thursday afternoon.

With two outs, Julio Teheran hit Matt Kemp in the back with a 90-mph fastball after nearly hitting him earlier in the at-bat. Kemp turned around and threw his bat to the ground and started walking toward first base.

Teheran and Kemp exchanged words and grew visibly angry at one another. San Diego’s Yonder Alonso held Teheran back and home-plate umpire Jordan Baker held Kemp back as both dugouts emptied onto the field around the two. Baker fell to the ground with Kemp as he tried to restrain him.

No player was ejected, but both benches received a warning.
