How the winning run scored: Bats batter Neftali Soto took first on a force out at second and second on the same play on a throwing error by Braves shortstop Josh Wilson. The first baseman scored the winning run when right fielder Xavier Paul followed with a double to center.

At the plate: Braves first baseman Ernesto Mejia had his 23rd double and 62nd RBI, which came on a solo home run (19) with two out in the eight.

On the mound: Starter Jose Lugo (2-5) took the loss. He gave up two runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and no walks in six innings. Reliever Andrew Russell gave up one run on three hits with one strikeout and no walks in two innings.

Up next for Gwinnett: A four game series at the Indianapolis Indians beginning Monday. They return home Friday night to host the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees for four games.
