Austin Riley’s batting average still rising

May 16, 2018

Austin Riley bumped his batting average at Gwinnett to .375 with a big night Tuesday.

Riley, ranked No. 6 among Braves prospects by Baseball America, and the top position player still in the Braves’ system, was 2-for-3 with two walks in the Triple-A Stripers’ 5-4 loss in 10 innings at Columbus.

Riley drove in a run and scored a run. He has hit safely in seven of his eight games since he was promoted to Gwinnett on May 7.

Including a three-homer game Sunday, Riley is 6-for-8 with three homers, four runs scored and nine RBIs in his past two games.

Riley, 21, was drafted by the Braves in the first round (41st overall) in 2015. He is from Southaven, Mississippi, a suburb of Memphis.

The Stripers will face Columbus again Wednesday. Game time is 6:35 p.m.
