Here’s a by the numbers look at some of Marquis Grissom’s key stats during the Braves’ 1995 World Series championship season:

.258: Batting average

142: Hits

12: Home runs

42: Runs batted in

29: Stolen bases

Grissom took his performance to another level during the 1995 postseason:

.524: Batting average in NLDS vs. Rockies

.360: Batting average in World Series in Indians

25: Hits in 65 at-bats

Grissom, a graduate of the former Lakeshore High in Fulton County who played college baseball at Florida A&M, batted .272 and had 429 stolen bases in a 17-year major league career that ended in 2005.
