PHOENIX -- B.J. Upton was back in the Braves lineup Saturday, two days after being with his fiancée, Stefanie, for the birth of their second child in Tampa.

Myla Upton weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces, B.J. Upton said, and she and her mother were doing well when he left to fly out West and rejoin the Braves. He said when the couple’s son Riley was born four years ago, Upton was with the Rays on a West Coast trip and flew back to Tampa for the birth, then back across the country to rejoin the team.

Upton had difficulties with his commercial flight to Phoenix on Friday and didn’t make it to Chase Field until about 40 minutes before the first pitch. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez scratched him from the lineup earlier after Upton let him know he’d be cutting it close getting from the airport to the ballpark.

Upton was 14-for-51 (.275) with three doubles and two homers in his past 13 games before Saturday.
