Miles Robinson scored and George Bello earned his first start for the U.S. men’s national team in Thursday’s 6-1 win against Martinique in the Gold Cup in Kansas City.

The win secured the team’s advancement into the knockout round of the competition. Lawrenceville’s Walker Zimmerman and Powder Springs’ Shaq Moore also started for Gregg Berhalther’s team.

Robinson made his second consecutive start and scored with a header in the 50th minute. Eryk Williamson earned the assist. It was Robinson’s fifth appearance for the team. He completed 88.5 percent of his passes and won 10 duels.

Bello made his second appearance for the team and is now cap-tied to the U.S. He was also eligible for selection by Nigeria. He had a hand in the team’s first goal when he ran down a diagonal pass from Williamson in the corner. He passed it back to Matthew Hoppe, whose cross was headed in by Daryl Dike. Bello completed 90.9 percent of his passes and won eight duels.

The U.S. will play Canada on Sunday.
